Police Hunt Homeless Man Known as "Markos" in Athens Suitcase Murder Case

Greek police are searching for a homeless man known locally as "Markos" as a person of interest in the killing of a 38-year-old British woman found dead in a suitcase in Athens's Kypseli district, according to police sources cited by the Daily Mail. The victim, identified as Jane-Elizabeth Ross of Edinburgh, was reported missing July 15 and found dead three days later. T he man frequented the abandoned building where her body was discovered but vanished after the site was cordoned off as a crime scene. Described as around 40 years old, heavily tattooed, with black hair and a stocky build, he has a reputation among Kypseli residents for aggressive behavior, particularly toward women, and was previously accused of threatening a Bulgarian tourist with a knife in the same area — an incident police say was never formally reported. "We have a piece of information concerning a homeless man. We want to locate a specific individual and question him, but we are also looking into other people as part of the investigation," a police source said.
