Katerina Misichroni Named New High Priestess for Olympic Flame Ceremonies
Actress and classical dancer Katerina Misichroni has been appointed the new High Priestess for Olympic Flame ceremonies ahead of the next Olympic cycle, the Hellenic Olympic Committee has announced. The committee said Ms. Misichroni was selected after other candidates were considered, citing her qualifications, experience and artistic career. She will succeed Mairy Mina in the role. “I am confident that we will have a flawless collaboration with the new High Priestess,” said Artemis Ignatiou, choreographer of the Olympic Flame ceremonies. “Katerina, with her talent and inner depth, will touch the souls of people all over the world, sending the messages of Olympic values.” Born in Thessaloniki and raised in Athens, Ms. Misichroni built a career in theater, television and film. She first studied psychology before training in classical dance at the State School of Dance Art, later performing in Greece and abroad, including in Berlin, London and the United States.
