60-Year-Old Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Acropolis Tourist Stabbing
A 60-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges following a knife attack on two American tourists near the Acropolis g. In addition to the felony attempted murder charge, the suspect faces two misdemeanor counts for the illegal possession and use of a weapon. Authorities referred the man to an investigating magistrate, granting him time to prepare his formal defense statement. The violent incident unfolded shortly after 8 a.m. when the assailant attacked a Greek-American couple—a 53-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman—near Greece's most famous archaeological site. The woman sustained a minor stab wound to her thigh. Her partner, however, suffered a much more severe injury to his arm and hand. First responders from the Hellenic Police's DIAS motorcycle unit arrived rapidly at the scene and applied a life-saving tourniquet to halt the man's severe bleeding. Emergency medical crews subsequently provided first aid and transported the couple for urgent care. The 53-year-old male victim remains hospitalized at Metropolitan Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently being closely monitored by a specialized hand surgeon.…
