Greeks Can Now Unfreeze Bank Accounts by Paying Just 25% of Tax Debt

Greece's tax authority, AADE, will now let taxpayers unfreeze seized bank accounts as soon as they pay off 25% of the debt that caused the freeze, under a new rule issued by AADE chief Giorgos Pitsilis. To qualify, taxpayers must have paid a quarter of the seized debt, arranged installments or a suspension for the rest, and cleared any other overdue debts. Applications go through the myAADE online portal, and once approved, the account is unlocked immediately and digitally. The relief can only be used once per taxpayer.
